The Ache of Letting Go of our 'Babies'
It is often very painful for us to let go of our 'babies'...whether that means sending our kids off to college or sending them out as missionaries; whether that means letting go of some ministry or business we have 'birthed' and nurtured or some vision that we have to let go of for whatever reason.
In this figurine, the blood running out of Jochebed's heart in sending off her beloved Baby Moses into the unknown potential dangers of life depicts the somewhat similar pain, grief and many unanswered questions that we often experience as we also have to let go of our 'babies'.
In those difficult transitional times, may we also be encouraged by the way God had prepared the way for Moses and provided him with incredible training, resources and all he needed as He led him into the destiny He had for him and then carried out through him.
It is important to note that in order for Moses to be able to fulfill the mind-boggling call that God had on his life, his mother HAD to let him go, even though she did not know what God had in mind. If she hadn't been willing to let him go, he would never have been able to be or do what He had been called to, and God would have had to use someone else.
May we sense, as in this figurine, the comfort of the Holy Spirit as we trust Him in these very faith-challenging experiences of life's journey!
